VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
Reliable, dedicated people are needed to help fill the following positions:
| FOSTERINGFostering
is one of the noblest things a pug person can do. People who foster rescue
pugs are the backbone of pug rescue organizations; without them, we could
not take in pugs that need homes. If you would like to learn more, click
here.
TRANSPORTINGBecause we work with other pug rescue groups throughout southern California, the need sometimes arises to help get a pug transported to us in Santa Barbara. There are also times one of our rescue pugs needs to get transported to a veterinarian specialist who may be in Ventura, Oxnard, or Los Angeles. If you have a car whose air conditioner can produce an Alaskan chill, please contact us via email and let us know when you are available should the need arise. We need transporters in all areas of Southern California, and tho we may only need to call on you once or twice, your ability to step in when needed provides rescue pugs with an invaluable service! NEWSPAPER SLEUTHCan you watch your local newspaper for any Lost or Found pugs? One of the services we provide is trying to match up lost pugs with their owners. We will also take Found pugs from people who find them but can't, or don't want to keep them. The average person being unfamiliar with this breed, we prefer to bring them into our network of knowledgeable foster homes while we try to track down the owner. FUNDRAISINGEvery charitable organization needs funds to operate, and we are no different. 99% of our expenses are for veterinary care. One incoming pug can be in horrible shape, requiring $1,000-$2,000 worth of treatment. We need someone with fresh ideas and energy, and a willingness to follow through with a project. Whether it's taking a booth at a local event, writing an article for a local paper, hosting a bake or garage sale . . . the list is endless. Give us your input! VOLUNTEER POWER AT OUR PUG PARTIES! Whether it's hitting up local businesses for raffle prizes, or helping sell hotdogs on the day of the event, there are many ways you can help make our pug party fundraisers successful. Volunteer a couple of hours and get into the party free (your friends and relatives are NOT included unless they, too, can donate a couple of hours!). There is setup, cleanup, pooper-scooper patrol, water-dish fill 'er up, contest assistants, watching over the pugs we have in our "rescue pen," directing traffic, helping put out signs, and much, much more! It's fun, it's teamwork, and it's for the pugs! WEBSITE HELPAre you familiar with the ins and outs of the Internet? We need someone to help increase our exposure by contacting compatible websites to exchange links, submit to search engines, and help post our rescue pugs to other sites. We would also welcome anyone with artistic and technical talent who would like to add some original pug animation and/or design to this site. Please email to: khpug1@cox.net for this position. Do you have a talent or item to donate to the pugs? We are always in search of great items for our Silent Auction and Raffle. If you have a business or work for one that would donate a gift basket, gift certificate, or an item that would appeal to pug people, please let us know. We are happy to put out flyers from people and businesses who donate to us, and will list them in our program in the "sponsors" section. Can you think of something we left out that you would like to contribute? Contact us by email! We would love to hear from you! All ideas are welcome! For any of the above positions, please call (805) 564-7202 or email: Pug Rescue of Santa Barbara
