| Through no fault of their own,
pugs come in to rescue for a variety of reasons: their owners get divorced, go into a convalescent home, pass on, dump them because of a high-cost medical condition, move, or they get lost while owners are on vacation, get picked up by Animal Control, and get adopted out before their owners return. Often they just get dumped at an animal control shelter for reasons we never find out. Sometimes they have behavioral problems such as needing to be housebroken; often they have medical problems (medical bills are by far our biggest expense!). Pug Rescue of Santa Barbara has never turned down a pug, and we have taken in pugs from as far away as Lancaster (when other pug rescues in the area were full), up the coast to Paso Robles, down the coast to Camarillo, and all places in between, including San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and Ventura. If we get a pug from a shelter who appears to be loved but lost, we often run ads in the area a pug has been picked up to find lost owners. We have successfully reunited a pug we were fostering with his very relieved owner this way. We also try to locate owners of lost pugs locally by calling pug owners in the area the pug was lost. We have been able to reunite pugs with their owners on several ocasions. We run strictly on volunteer-power (no paid staff), and rely on kind-hearted pug people to assist us with donations to continue our work. We are blessed to have pug people throughout the U.S. send us contributions from time to time, and invite you to become one of them. All donations, large or small, are truly appreciated, and get applied to medical treatment for the pugs in our care (past, present and future) that are waiting to find loving homes. Please send to:
