Louie and Family

Louie had passed through two previous families before he found his "forever" family with the Meehan's. As one can see, everybody's delighted!

Here's April Meehan's account of how this delightful adoption came together:

We purchased our pug, Monty in Sept. of last year. We got him as a pup, and we fell in love with him. After a couple of months, we decided that we wanted to get another pug, because it seemed that Monty needed a brother. We didn't want to get another puppy, we thought a one to two year old would be perfect. Well, it's very hard to find a healthy, one to two year old pug! We looked everywhere! Finally, we thought we had one in early March. My friend, who works for a Vet, said they had a lady with a year old male pug-she was getting a divorce, and couldn't keep the dog. We were all so excited, and planned a date to take the dog. Well, on the day she was supposed to deliver the dog, she didn't show up. My friend called her the next day, and she changed her mind. We were all heartbroken.

After that happened, I called Pug Rescue, and Connie told me that they had a dog, but a family was supposed to get him the next day, and that they were very interested. It seemed that he was probably going to go with them. Connie called me the next day, and said that the family did not show, and I guess decided not to take him. My husband went to see him that night at the foster home. He came home and told us how adorable he was, and very well-mannered. We set a date to come and get him a couple days later. I am so glad we held out for Louie, and didn't settle on any other dogs. He fits in our family perfectly. From day one, Louie and Monty have played together, slept together-they are just like brothers. What's amazing to us is, how could anyone want to give him up? We can't believe that he has been through 2 homes before us. Although, I guess it's lucky for us that he has or he wouldn't be with us!! Also, when we got him, his name was not Louie. The night we got him, we just started calling him Louie, and by the next day, he was coming to his name!!
