A Lulu of a Story!

Lulu came to us from a sad background. She had had 3 previous owners in 4 years because of deaths, divorces and a new baby in the family. We looked through our applications and found what seemed like the perfect couple, from Irvine, with a 6 month old baby. The couple had grown up with Pugs and wanted to share the experience when the baby was older. Everything was going well, when after 3 weeks they told us they would have to return the Pug as the baby was allergic!
Back to the applications! We found an application from a local couple, Gail and Tom, whose Pug had died some months before. We told them we were expecting Lulu to be returned soon but didn't know exactly when. Thinking it was unimportant, I never mentioned the location. They were willing to wait.
Unbeknown to us, Tom and Gail were on their way on Mother's Day weekend to visit Gail's mother who lived in San Clemente. He called me enroute to see what the status was on Lulu and I said that we were trying to get the Pug returned any day but weren't sure exactly when that would be. I just happened to ask him where he was, and when he said that they were passing through Irvine I realized that the present owner's address was the very next off ramp! Imagine that turn of events! Needless to say, they immediately took the turnoff, picked up Lulu and all three enjoyed the visit. What a perfect ending!
