Maka and his New Family

Maka came to us with quite a story! He had been living off the land for 3 months after apparently being dropped off by his former owners alongside an apartment complex near the freeway. No one could ever catch him, but our Santa Maria volunteers Jan and Richard Powell sure did. When they brought him down to us in Santa Barbara, Maka was shaking like a leaf, quite stressed with his re-entry into the "civilized" world. We credit his foster mom, Luana, and her pug (another former rescue) Kimo, with providing him the love, patience, and understanding needed for him to once again trust the human race.

Today he is with his wonderful new family in Moorpark. The LaGuardias consider him an important family member, and Maka has been renamed Kobe, because he is a survivor.

Go ahead, Maka/Kobe, give us one last smile, okay?

Hey--quit hamming it up! At least show us your beautiful eyes that we will always remember you for . . .

That's our boy! We'll never forget you
